Since it was established in 2003, Samport has grown in size from just two employees to around 50, and become one of the most popular suppliers on the market.
A strong passion for technology and a fervent vision to change the payments industry. This was the fundamental concept that launched the card payment company Samport. The year was 2003.
Since the mid 1990s, after the internet made its real breakthrough to general usage, e-commerce became more common and easy to use. Payment systems on the other hand were more complicated. Only major international companies had the resources to develop these sorts of systems, since the only solutions available were both costly and technically advanced.
In modest facilities in Halmstad there were other ambitions. The precursor to Samport had two employees who were determined to make e-commerce accessible to all. However, since the business was running smoothly they understood that it wasn’t e-commerce itself that was the difficult part, but rather the payment procedure that followed. And in that same moment they decided that it was this very aspect that the company needed to focus on.
The industry was experiencing a period of growth, and so was Samport. The years that followed were demanding. Having supplied e-commerce solutions, customers were now clamouring for physical payment solutions. In conjunction with this, the company also changed form and name to the current Samport, and the product range has expanded considerably since 2003. Operations were now focused mainly on payment terminals and their associated products rather than e-commerce, although this remains a key element.
Today, Samport is one of the most popular suppliers of payment solutions and terminal products. The company has around 50 employees and more than 3,000 customers throughout the Nordic region. Most of our customers have chosen Samport because of our customised technology and its high level of security.
